About
I am originally from the North East of Scotland and now live in Kommetjie, Cape Town. In my twenties I worked as a physiotherapist, coupling this with extensive travel, before settling down and having a family in 2012. When my children were very young I started to draw, this brought me great peace in an otherwise turbulent time. After a couple of years I felt a strong pull to work with colour and started painting. I was smitten immediately and have grown my practice to becoming a full time artist. I am so very grateful to have found something I truly love to do, and I hope this is expressed in my work.
I paint mostly with acrylic, on linen or canvas, and had initially shied away from oil paint. However in May 2023 I attended a four week course at Angel Academy of Art in Florence, learning to paint portraits in oil. I now move between acrylic and oil, learning more with every piece.
